Day 26 - Tuesday, August 12th – Ohio to New York
Miles: 8608 – 9052 – 444 miles traveled
Departed: 3:30 PM ET – Cincinnati, OH
Arrived: 11:00 PM ET – Corfu, NY (Pembrook Service Station)
More visiting this morning, we cooked our traditional family breakfast of bacon and eggs (from Brian’s farm) and pancakes.
Packed some veggies (could not pass up the fresh tomatoes) from Dad’s and Bill’s gardens to bring back to VT with us. Brian had a huge basket of eggs. He washed up a couple dozen for us to bring home. They should be good for about 45 days. Because of the variety of chickens he has, we had white, light brown, dark brown, a couple different tans, as well as a couple of blue/green eggs to bring home. Who knew, I only thought chicken eggs were light brown or white.
Bill and the kids left in the early afternoon, as he had a meeting with a client he had to get to that afternoon.
I asked Brian to take a look at our warped storage rack, and if he might be able to straighten it out for us? He thinks it will be a little bit of a challenge, and not sure he has the right tools to straighten out the steel rails. We left fixing it for another day.
We enjoyed a late lunch with Dad and Brian, and then we headed out ourselves. We left at 3:30 in the afternoon, and drove as far as we wanted which ended up being just east of Buffalo.
We stayed on the thruway again, this time we parked by the semi's that had their generators running – created a nice white noise and allowed us to sleep uninterrupted for the night. Will have to keep that in mind, and may have to run my generator at night if no semi’s around, it was the best night’s sleep I had gotten yet while parked on the NY Thruway.
